Marriage

One & Two

October 10, 2013

This summer, we got married.

We also went honeymooning, hiking, boating, and exploring.

We ate an abundance of delicious food, saw a host of colorful sunsets, enjoyed crisp, foggy, mornings, and bright blue skies.

But we didn’t move here for the sunshine 😉

As romantic, exciting, glorious, gorgeous, and perfect this summer was, we were excited for autumn, and more specifically, the rain it brings.

There is just something about the rain in Seattle– that perpetual and gentle mist. It’s fresh and renewing, and somehow manages to make this place feel like home. Waking to chilly air and petrichor, and spending our days listening to raindrops fall on our jackets — it’s an unexplainable perfection.

Now that autumn is here and our beloved rain is back for an extended stay, we are wrapping up in warm blankets, making plans for skiing and snowshoeing trips, and getting excited about fall and winter camping. Of course, we’re also getting excited about the season’s delicious food (like homemade caramel apple cider and pumpkin spice cookies).

We’re a little less excited about holiday shopping and going to and from work in darkness, though 😉

Speaking of work, Alex is coming up on his first year employed at the corporate giant with the smile on the box, and has enjoyed nearly every (stressful) minute of it. He’s made various friends and acquaintances, and won them all over with his hard work, talent, and humor. As for me, I’ve been doing what psychology graduate students do best: analyze, research, and cry angry tears over the DSM write endlessly. Thankfully, some of my hard work has paid off in a wonderful opportunity to have a study of mine published in an academic journal, so I’m excited to see what the future holds!

The rest of October should be busy and fun for us. Immediately coming up is a camping trip to Deception Pass, and we’re hoping to sneak in some camping and hiking in the Cascades.

Two months of marriage has treated us very well, and we are happier than ever. We had a blast enjoying the tail end of summer as husband and wife, and are already loving the beginning of our first fall as The Forts. We’ll be back to share the rest of this season’s adventures with you all!

Love your pictures and your cute update, can’t wait to read more. You guys are such a beautiful, sweet, fun, awesome couple.

We think it is TOTALLY awesome and so badass that you guys just decided to do what you wanted and have a private wedding. I have so much respect for that. You guys have so many friends and a lot of family, too, so I know it was probably difficult, and YOU ROCK for doing what you wanted.

Love you, can’t wait to read more!
