Marriage

Ten

June 10, 2014

June. 2014. It’s always June that makes me stop in my tracks and say, “seriously?”

I mean, SERIOUSLY. It’s already June, which means we’ve already been married for TEN months now, and all I can say is: it’s getting *real* up in here. We’re getting very close to the one year mark, and I’ll admit, it’s a little weird to be here. It still feels surreal to have passed such a significant milestone in our relationship, and I swear, every time I see our wedding pictures I think to myself, “wow, I can’t believe that happened.”

But what I really, really can’t believe is that one of the consequences of it all has been graduating from wedding and marriage talk (with friends, family, and strangers) to baby talk. BABIES, folks. That is some next level stuff! Where has all the time gone?!

If it weren’t for pictures, I wouldn’t be able to recall literally ANY of what has been happening around here since we last caught up. According to the camera, we’ve hiked to, like, three different waterfalls, and then did some more random hiking in more beautiful places.

I vaguely remember all the fun we had.

What hasn’t been captured by the camera, of course, has been the mundane, everyday things we do, like work, and searching for what seems to be like all seven levels of hell for a new place to live that isn’t in downtown yet not in the middle of nowhere. Yup, we started the moving process again, so we’re not exactly fired up about all of the packing or hassle, but we are pretty excited to for a clean slate. We thought for a while that might like to rent or buy a house with a few bedrooms in Ballard or Fremont to get away from the hustle and bustle, and although we came dangerously close, it just didn’t feel right. I’m so, so glad that we didn’t go there. For as lovely as that area is, that is just not our dream, and it feels so good to say it. We love this general area that we live in and how it allows us to have more of the lifestyle we are looking for, plus, having the ability to walk to work is incredible. We’re moving just a few blocks away, which will put us in the South Lake Union neighborhood of Seattle where many other amazon families live. Our new place is much more “us,” and we’re slowly but surely working towards our dream modern industrial studio (or small loft) in the city. We’re looking forward to making this new place our home, and showing you around a bit once we are settled.

Two weeks after the move we’ll be heading off on our first backpacking trip of the season, which is pretty much the best reward I could ask for. We are SO excited about it, and the coveted location just makes it all the more thrilling. We were one of the lucky ones who scored a permit to camp in one of the most famed and gorgeous areas of the cascades called The Enchantments, and we’ll be spending a few days there seeing what we can see.

Until then, we’ll be in the thick of boxes, packing paper, and bubble wrap (with convenient perforated strips!).

See you in July…you know, provided we don’t fall off a cliff and die.

I’M JUST KIDDING MOM.

See you then!

Maybe when you revamp your website in August you’ll start posting more about the mundane stuff? Would love to see it. These updates are great, and I’m glad your first year of marriage has been awesome so far. Your pics, as always, are awesome. You have a great eye.

    Keep on keepin’ on.

(Can’t believe you’ve been married for 10 months already, that is crazy!)

Thanks! We will be redesigning the website and I’ll be posting some more “everyday” content probably starting in September or October.

I can’t believe we’ve been married for 10 months either, and it really HAS been pretty spectacular.
